Golden
Beaches ~ North Cyprus is proud to offer crystal clear beaches that one can
hardly find anywhere else in the Mediterranean; With miles of coastline and golden sands bathed in
sunshine almost every day of the year. On the east coast between Famagusta
and Bogaz, a golden beach streches for about 15 miles. On the two sides of the
Karpaz Peninsula, there are a large expanse of immaculate
dunes.
Climate ~ North Cyprus is blessed with seemingly endless sunshine
and enjoys one of the healthiest climates in the world. Cyprus enjoys an intense Mediterranean
climate, with long dry summers from mid-May to mid-October and with mild winters
from December to February, but even in January (usually the coolest month) there
are generally six hours of bright sunshine during the day. Summer is the season
of high temperatures with cloudless skies, but the sea breezes create a pleasant
atmosphere in these coastal areas. The average annual temperature is about 20C /68F.
Summers are hot with July and August averaging over 30C / 90F.
The temperature in midsummer can soar over 40ºC
(105ºF). The sea temperature is the warmest in the
Mediterranean, ranging from a mean average of about 16C / 61F in January, to 32C
/ 90F in August. Summer and winter are separated by short autumn and spring
seasons when daytime temperatures are generally warm enough for light summer
clothing. Activities ~ North Cyprus has its fair share of activities ranging
from taking it easy at the beach or pool to something requiring a bit more
energy If you visit any one of the Northern Cyprus tourist
information offices in the main towns you'll also find plenty of information
about what's going on.
Sightseeing ~ There is much of historical interest to reflect nine
thousand years of history. Gothic churches rub shoulders with crusader castles,
and ruined temples with British Colonial architecture in a fascinating blend of
styles. The all- pervading sense of the past adds to the enchantment of the
present to make an unforgettable holiday.
Currency ~ The unit of currency in North Cyprus is Turkish Lira
(TL). TThe approximate exchange rate fluctuates daily, so it's best to check the
rate at the many banks, exchange bureau or at your hotel before you change your
money. Most hotels, restaurants, and shops will also happily accept payments in
main foreign currencies such as Euro, Sterling Pound, US Dollars, Cyprus Pounds.
Most major international credit and charge cards are accepted.

Traffic

Traffic
in North Cyprus circulates on the left, as in Britain, and the traffic signs are
international. The
roadways are well maintained, with
good dual carriageway connections providing
fast links between
major towns.
The
speed limit in urban areas is 30 mph.
Health
~
Health
services are extremely good in North Cyprus and there are good hospitals and
medical facilities. Visitors to Northern Cyprus do not require any medical
treatments prior to entry. The
